Three people were injured in a clash between police and protesters over Quran burnings. This triggered riots in many Swedish towns this Easter weekend.
Counter-protesters attacked police in some areas ahead of planned right-wing extremist demonstrations. The violence was condemned by Magdalena Andersson, Prime Minister. Police stated online that all three of the injured were taken into custody on suspicion of criminal activity. They also said none of their injuries were life-threatening.
During the last days, police and protesters engaged in violent clashes where many officers were injured and several vehicles torched.
On Thursday, violence broke out following a demonstration organized by Rasmus Paludan (leader of the far-right Danish political party Hard Line). Paludan was granted permission to hold a series in Sweden over the Easter weekend. He is well-known for his Quran burnings.
