The Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management of the ULB announces the launch of two new English-language Bachelor’s programs: the Bachelor in Business Engineering and the Bachelor in Economics, starting September 2024. This initiative honours the legacy of the school’s founder, Ernest Solvay, and aims to attract international students.
Previously offered in French, these programs will now cater to a global audience, addressing the challenge of attracting international students to Master’s programs in business engineering.
Dean Bruno van Pottelsberghe stated, « Solvay Brussels School remains true to Ernest Solvay’s visionary spirit by adapting its Bachelor’s programs to meet current challenges and provide a world-class education.”
Bachelor in Business Engineering
This program shapes future entrepreneurs and leaders with a deep understanding of economic, technological and sustainability challenges. It combines multidisciplinary approaches with rigorous standards and enhances language skills in English, French and Dutch or German.
Vice Dean Catherine Dehon remarked, “Our Bachelor in Business Engineering equips students with the skills needed to accurate the transition toward a sustainable world.”
Bachelor in Economics
Focusing on applied economics and quantitative methods, this program blends theory and practice over three years. It emphasizes sustainable development and includes courses in law, humanities, and management, as well opportunities to study English, French, Dutch or German.
Academic Director Germain Van Bever commented, “The Bachelor in Economics prepares students to tackle global economic challenges, fostering intellectual growth and competence.”
These new international bachelor programmes are an extension of the existing French-language bachelors that Solvay includes in its curriculum.
