Turkish President Tayyip Erdan told Vladimir Putin via telephone that a ceasefire was necessary and that humanitarian conditions had improved following the invasion of Ukraine by Moscow. His office released a statement.
“Erdogan recognized the importance of a ceasefire among Russia and Ukraine, and the implementation of peace in the region,” his office stated in a reading of the call.
They also agreed that the next round in peace committee talks between Russia and Ukraine would take place in Istanbul.
On Sunday, David Arakhamia, the Ukrainian negotiator, stated that the next round in face-to-face talks between Russia and Ukraine will be held in Turkey from March 28-30.
