Ukraine war: The Syrians signing up to fight for Russia

Russia claims that it has recruited approximately 16,000 Middle Easterners to join its forces in Ukraine.

People have been asking for help in Syria via social media, with up to $7,000 in return.

BBC News Arabic spoke to a former soldier of the Syrian regime who was offered thousands of dollars to help in the war. He said that because of Syria’s economic collapse, hundreds of Syrians are now putting themselves forward.
