Angelina Jolie visits Lviv, trip interrupted by sirens


Angelina Jolie (a Hollywood actress) visited Lviv, Ukraine Saturday to meet people who were displaced by the conflict with Russia. After the sirens had sounded, she left and returned to Lviv.

Jolie (46), is a special representative of the United Nations refugee agency. According to it, more than 12.7million people fled their homes in the past two months. This is 30% of Ukraine’s prewar inhabitants.

Jolie met volunteers working with the displaced. Jolie was told by the volunteers that each psychiatrist on duty spoke with approximately 15 people per day. According to volunteers, many of the children stationed at the hospital are between two- and ten years old.

One time she tickled a little girl wearing red during her visit to the station. She giggled in delight. She took photos of children and volunteers.

Jolie and her assistants left the station quickly to get in a waiting car when air-raid sirens started to sound later.

Jolie was named special envoy for Yemen last month. Millions of Yemenis were forced from their homes in war-related displacements.
